The National Lancers have earned 17 campaign streamers for its service in combat in the Civil War and World War I. The streamers are affixed to the squadron colors. A brief statement of service for each streamer follows

The National Lancers provided the cadre for Companies C and D, 1st Massachusetts Volunteer Cavalry. In accordance with Army lineage rules, volunteer unit lineage and honors are bestowed to the militia unit that provided the cadre.

Since the battle of Fredericksburg was an infantry battle, the cavalry, with the Lancers, remained in reserve.


The Lancers, as part of Companies C and D, were in action at Poolesville, Maryland on 5 Sept. 1862.


The 1st Massachusetts Cavalry performed picket and patrol duty during the battle of Chancelorsville. A campaign streamer is not available for this battle.


The Lancers, with the 1st Massachusetts Cavalry, provided security for the flanks of the 6th Corps and acted as mounted police during the third day of the battle.


The Lancers participated with Companies C and D and the 1st Massachusetts Cavalry were in action against Confederate cavalry near Todd?s Tavern.


The Lancers engaged in action against Confederate cavalry during the battle of Spotsylvania, VA.


The Lancers were in action against Confederate cavalry during the battle of Cold Harbor, VA.


The Lancers were engaged in operations against Confederate cavalry, patrol duty, provided security and conducted raids in the battle of Petersburg, VA.


The Lancers also saw action in May 1862 at James Island. A campaign streamer is not available for this battle.


The Battle of Aldie, Virginia on 17 June was the largest cavalry action of the war. Companies C and D saw heavy action at Kelly's Ford / Kellysville, Va. on March 17, 1863 and were also in constant action from September-November of that year.


In 1864, companies C and D were in action at the battles of Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and Petersburg represented by this campaign streamer.


During World War 1, the National lancers were designated as Company A, 102d Machine Gun Battalion, 51st Infantry Brigade, 26th Yankee Division. The Lancers provided heavy machine gun support in combat operations of the 101st and 102d Infantry Regiments on the Western Front in France.

The Lancers supported the 51st Infantry Brigade from 15-18 July 1918 in the Aisne Marne sector where the allied powers attempted to push back the German Lines.


The National Lancers saw action 18 July-6 August 1918 during the German offensive in the Champagne Marne Sector where the German Army attempted to re-gain lost ground from the Aisne-Marne allied offensive.


The National Lancers were with the 26th Yankee Division in the drive of the St. Mihiel offensive operations 12-16 Sept. 1918. The Lancers were in support of the 26th Yankee Division and the French during the St. Mihiel offensive from Les-Esparge to Vignuelles along the Trenchee-de-Colonne road.


In the final offensive of the war, the Lancers were in action in the Meuse Argonne Offensive from 26 September-11 November 1918.


The Lancers, with the 102nd MG batallion, entered the lines Northeast of Soisson in support of the French Sixth and took part in their first combat operations from 6 February-21 March 1918 in the Chemin des Dames Sector, Ile de France.


The Lancers were in combat operations from 3-14 April 1918 in the Toul-Boucq Sector, Lorraine.
